Lane shift planned for Thursday night on Fairview at Fairview and Five Mile intersection

Boise- Traffic on Fairview Avenue near the Fairview and Five Mile intersection will be shifted to the south lanes of Fairview tomorrow night, (Thursday, Sept. 30). The shift in traffic will allow crews to reconstruct the north lanes of Fairview at the intersection and pour concrete. Additional utility work will also occur during this phase of the project.

The lane configuration that has been in place on Fairview will remain the same with the new shift in traffic-- one lane in each direction and a left turn lane will be maintained at the intersection. Access to businesses will remain open.

Project Progress
Work on the north lanes of Fairview is expected to take approximately one month to complete. This will wrap up one of the final larger pieces of the project. Additional work will include setting the traffic signals to their final configuration, installing signs, placing permanent lane striping and some landscaping. One additional shift in traffic will be necessary on Five Mile to pour a section of concrete at the intersection.

The $2.4 million intersection project is expected to be complete in November. When finished, it will improve traffic flow with new right and left turn lanes and additional through lanes.
