Six week closure planned for McMillan east of Locust Grove for intersection improvement project

Meridian – A section of McMillan Road east of the McMillan and Locust Grove Road intersection will be closed for approximately six weeks, starting Monday, January 3, 2011. Please see the attached map of the impacted area. The temporary closure will allow crews to make several major upgrades to utilities beneath the road, construct irrigation structures and remove and replace a bridge structure on McMillan. The closure is in conjunction with the intersection improvement project at McMillan and Locust Grove. The overall project, which began in early December 2010, includes widening the intersection and constructing a traffic signal, sidewalks/pathway and bike lanes at the intersection.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured onto Ustick Road between Eagle Road and Locust Grove Road. Closing this section of McMillan will allow crews to work faster and will create a safer environment for both crews and motorists.

Additional closures in conjunction with the intersection project will be necessary as construction progresses, including a six week closure of the north approach of Locust Grove at the McMillan and Locust Grove intersection. The $2 million intersection improvement project is expected to be complete in mid to late-August 2011.
