Closures planned at McMillan and Locust Grove intersection will allow for significant progress

Meridian – A 10-day closure of the McMillan Road and Locust Grove Road intersection will go into effect Tuesday, February 15. The intersection is expected to reopen to traffic on Friday, February 25, with the exception of Locust Grove, north of the intersection, which will remain closed through early April. Please see the attached map of the impacted areas.

During the closures, two irrigation crossings which run underneath the roadway will be removed and reconstructed—one of the crossings runs diagonally through the intersection and one crosses Locust Grove. The extended closure of Locust Grove is necessary to widen the north intersection approach and replace a canal bridge. Significant work by multiple utility companies is also planned during the closures.

Detours will be in place, however during the 10-day closure motorists wishing to access businesses in the area can do so but will not be able to pass through the intersection.

Project Background

Work to widen and construct a traffic signal, sidewalks/pathway and bike lanes at the McMillan and Locust Grove intersection began in early December 2010. The $2.2 million project is expected to be complete in mid-to late-August 2011.
