Meridian – The McMillan Road and Locust Grove Road intersection was reopened to traffic this morning, around 9:30 a.m., one day ahead of schedule. A full closure of the intersection went into effect February 15 and was planned for 10 days.
Locust Grove, north of the intersection will remain closed for the next six weeks while crews widen the intersection approach and replace a canal bridge. Utility work will also be done during this time frame. Business access will remain open on this section of Locust Grove up to the intersection however no traffic will be allowed to pass through the intersection.
The $2.2 million intersection widening project remains on schedule with completion anticipated for mid -to late-August. The intersection is being widened and a traffic signal is being constructed. The project also includes sidewalks/pathway and bike lanes.
