Meridian- Paving work this weekend will bring short-term closures to the McMillan and Locust Grove intersection where work to widen the intersection is ahead of schedule for completion.
The following work is planned for the weekend, but is dependent on dry weather:
Saturday, May 14 from morning to late afternoon: South approach of intersection (Locust Grove) will be closed to traffic
Sunday, May 15 from morning to late afternoon: North approach of intersection (Locust Grove) will be closed to traffic
Crews will also be paving through the intersection, which could create delays for motorists on McMillan. If weather cooperates, crews expect to finish paving the remaining portions of the intersection this weekend. Additional work on the project will include painting lane lines, installing the traffic signal and manhole adjustments.
Construction of the $2.2 million project was planned for completion in August; however, crews are currently ahead of schedule and could wrap up the project as early as June. The project includes widening the intersection, constructing a traffic signal and adding sidewalk/pathway and bike lanes.
