Winter months bring new road construction projects to Ada County; road closures planned for some

Winter construction is gearing up on Ada County roadways. This month, approximately $5.5 million in construction projects will get underway to increase safety at intersections, reduce congestion and repair canal crossing bridges that are aged and deteriorated. During construction, motorists can expect increased congestion in work zones— and in some cases, road closures.

Cloverdale Road and Ustick Road Intersection and
Ustick Road, Duane Drive to Campton Way
February 6 through September
Estimated Construction Cost: $3.6 million
ACHD will construct the intersection and road project together. Intersection improvements include widening the Cloverdale and Ustick intersection to six lanes at all approaches with bike lanes and sidewalk where needed. A HAWK (High-intensity Activated CrossWalk) pedestrian crossing signal will be installed near Ustick Elementary School. Ustick Road between Duane Drive and Campton Way will be widened to include two through travel lanes in each direction, a left turn lane, sidewalk and bike lanes.

Construction will begin with a two month closure on Cloverdale at the north approach of the intersection. Crews will remove and replace the bridge in this area. Cloverdale between Ustick and McMillan will be closed to through traffic and motorists will need to take Eagle Road or Five Mile Road as a detour.

Pine and Linder Intersection
February 6 through September
Estimated Construction Cost: $1.6 million

The Pine and Linder intersection will be widened at each approach and a traffic signal will be constructed, replacing the current four-way stop. The project also includes bike lanes, sidewalk and work to upgrade pipe for the Nine Mile Creek Drain located near the intersection. Temporary closures of the intersection approaches will be necessary at various points during construction.

Amity Road Bridge
January 30 through April
Estimated Construction Cost: $92,000
The project will remove and replace the Amity Road bridge which is located one-half mile east of Linder. A closure of Amity Road between Meridian and Linder roads will be in place through mid-April.

Latah Street Bridge
February 6 through Mid-March
Estimated Construction Cost: $106,000
The Latah Street bridge is located just north of Alpine Street on Boise’s Bench. The bridge, which runs over the North Slough Canal is deficient and will be removed and replaced with this project. During construction, Latah Street will be closed at the bridge. Access to businesses will remain open and a detour will be in place for through traffic.

Wylie Lane Bridge
February 6 through May
Estimated Construction Cost: $110,000
The project will replace and widen the Wylie Lane bridge to three lanes. The bridge is located south of State Street, just east of Collister Drive and spans the Boise Valley Canal. It is anticipated that Wylie Lane will be closed at the bridge during construction.
