The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) has been honored for meeting the highest levels of governmental budgeting. The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded ACHD with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2012 budget. The award nationally recognizes that ACHD’s 2012 budget follows specific guidelines which require it to serve as a policy document, an operations guide, financial plan and a communications device.
"The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. Its attainment represents a significant achievement," said Stephen Gauthier of GFOA. "It reflects the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting."
ACHD has earned recognition from the GFOA for the past four years. In 2009 ACHD restructured the presentation of its budget, making it more user-friendly for the public to see how ACHD spends taxpayer dollars.
