Meridian- A one month-long closure will go into effect starting Tuesday (May 29) on Pine Avenue west of Linder Road to allow for storm drain pipe work and widening of the west intersection approach. The work is being done as part of the Pine and Linder intersection improvement project, which began in February.
To reduce impacts to nearby schools, the closure was scheduled to begin once the school year was complete. Detours will be marked with signs and will send eastbound traffic on Pine, south onto Ten Mile and east to Franklin. Drivers heading westbound on Pine will be detoured south on Linder to Franklin and north on Ten Mile.
The project will widen the intersection and install a traffic signal. On Linder, additional through lanes and turn lanes are being added. Pine will be widened to three lanes with one lane in each direction and a left turn lane. Sidewalk and bike lanes will also be constructed with the project. To date, the south approach of the intersection has been widened and significant irrigation work has been completed.
The $1.6 million intersection project is anticipated for completion in early September. Weekly construction updates and more information on the Pine and Linder intersection project are available at www.achdidaho.org.
