Ironman event in Boise to bring impacts to local and state roads this Saturday

Boise- This year’s Ironman 70.3 will bring more than 1,500 athletes competing in swimming, biking and running events, to parts of downtown, south and southeast Boise on Saturday (June 9). Traffic delays, road closures and detours should be expected along multiple ACHD and ITD roads that will serve as the biking and running courses.

Local law enforcement officers and event volunteers will be positioned along the race routes to direct traffic and help keep competitors and motorists safe. In some areas, police will assist motorists and residents who live along the course with accessing or leaving their homes. Those driving along the bike course may, at times, drive alongside cyclists and are asked to use caution.

Competitors will start with the swim portion of the race at Lucky Peak’s Barclay Bay, followed by biking 56 miles through east and southeast Boise to downtown Boise. Participants will then run 13.1 miles, most of which is along the Greenbelt, to the finish line in downtown Boise on 8th Street. For full race course maps and for more information on Ironman 70.3, visit www.ironmanboise.com.

On Saturday, ACHD will have staff stationed in its Traffic Management Center to monitor traffic conditions in the east/southeast Boise and downtown areas and adjust signal timing as needed to keep traffic moving as efficiently as possible.
