Weekend Intersection Closure Planned for Maple Grove and Franklin Intersection

Boise - Construction on the improvement project at the Maple Grove and Franklin intersection continues with a closure planned for this weekend. The intersection closure is anticipated to begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday (October 13). The road will reopen to traffic before the morning rush hour on Monday.

During the closure, crews will work in the middle of the intersection to make storm drain improvements. The closure is necessary due to the location of the pipes and the need to create a trench across the intersection. Crews will be able to work in a safer environment and maximize their time.

Due to the volume of work planned during the closure, night work is possible. Time-permitting, crews will also remove the existing asphalt at the intersection in preparation for the addition of right turn lanes on the north and east approaches and an additional left turn lane on the Maple Grove approaches.

During the closure, north and southbound vehicles will be detoured to Five Mile and Cole, while east and westbound traffic will use Fairview and Overland.

Once complete, the intersection will have two left turn lanes at each approach and a right turn lane on each approach, which will reduce delays for the 45,000 motorists who use the intersection each day. In addition, three structural retaining walls are being constructed with the project and a new traffic signal is being installed.

The $1 million project began in July and will be complete by the end of October. For more information on this project, visit www.achdidaho.org
