New traffic patterns to begin on two Downtown Boise streets

Boise – Two new traffic patterns will begin in Downtown Boise by the end of this week. On the night Wednesday, October 29th, 12th Street from Front Street to State Street will be converted from a one-way street to a two-way street. The entire conversion will take place overnight. On the morning of October 30th, motorists will experience 12th Street as a two-way street.

On Thursday, October 30th, crews will work overnight to convert 11th Street from Main Street to State Street from a one-way street to a two-way street. The following morning (October 31st), traffic will function in a two-way pattern on 11th Street.

Reader boards were placed a week and a half ago, informing motorists of the coming traffic pattern changes.

The one-way to two-way street conversions are part of the Downtown Boise Implementation Plan that will bring transportation improvements to the downtown core. The plan calls for road resurfacing, one-way to two-way street conversions, and signal changes accommodating the street conversions.

As a side note, night work continues on Capitol Boulevard between Front Street and Jefferson Street. Construction crews are milling and paving the roadway, and this portion of Capitol Boulevard is closed between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. This portion of the project will be complete by Wednesday night (October 29th).
