Ada County– As the Idaho Transportation Department prepares to reduce the interstate to two lanes in both directions this Wednesday (September 16), the Ada County Highway District will be watching for potential traffic delays along alternate east/west routes as motorists attempt to avoid the freeway.
ACHD prepares for interstate lane reductions
Alternate east/west routes such as Overland Road, Franklin Road, Fairview Avenue, Ustick Road, Chinden Boulevard and State Street can expect to see increased traffic volumes. ACHD traffic engineers will be monitoring traffic via live camera feed at the ACHD Traffic Management Center. They will be making signal timing adjustments as necessary and as they are able. However, motorists are advised to give themselves plenty of time to get where they are going, and understand that traffic delays will be inevitable.
Lane reductions on I-84 are expected to remain in place through November.
