Two events to impact local traffic this weekend

 
Boise – The Fit One 5K, 10K and Half Marathon will take place tomorrow (Saturday, September 24) from 7 a.m. to noon. Road closures will begin at 6:30 p.m. today (Friday, September 23) remain in effect until approximately 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.


·         Starting Friday at 6:30 p.m., the intersection of Bannock Street and Capitol Boulevard will be closed to all traffic. Detour routes will be posted.

·         Starting Saturday morning at 5 a.m., road closures in the vicinity of Capitol Boulevard and Bannock Street will begin.

·         At 7 a.m., Americana Boulevard will be closed to general traffic.


The Half Marathon begins at 7:15 a.m. The race course is as follows:


·         Race begins at the intersection of Capitol and Bannock

·         South on Capitol to Main Street

·         East on W. Main Street to N. 6th Street

·         North on 6th Street to W. Jefferson Street

·         East on Jefferson Street

·         Continue east on Jefferson through the intersection of Avenue B, E. Washington Street to N. Walnut Street

·         South on Walnut Street

·         Continue south on Walnut Street crossing Warm Springs Avenue to the Greenbelt

·         East onto the Greenbelt at Kristen Armstrong Municipal Park (off of Walnut, departing the right of way)

·         East on the Greenbelt to Marden Street

·         North on Marden Street to Warm Springs (entering back into the public right of way)

·         East on Warm Springs crossing E. Walling Drive, E. Windsong Drive, Starcrest Drive, and Starview Drive

·         Continue east on Warm Springs veering right through the Emergency Access Road to E. Parkcenter Boulevard

·         South onto E. Parkcenter Boulevard

·         West onto the Greenbelt pathway (loop path)

·         Back to Parkcenter Boulevard at Gossamer Lane (departing and reentering the public right of way at this locatioin)

·         Enter Greenbelt on Parkcenter Boulevard at Gossamer Lane (departing the public right of way)

·         West on the Greenbelt past E. Gossamer Lane and E. Spring Meadow Lane

·         North onto River Run Drive (entering back into the public right of way)

·         Continue north and west on River Run crossing S. Crosscreek Lane, S. Pebblecreek Lane, Silvercreek Lane, S. Springbrook Lane, and Teal Lane

·         Continue north onto Riverstone Lane (depart the public right of way)

·         North on Riverstone to the traffic circle

·         East to Greenbelt access

·         Continue north on the Greenbelt

·         East onto the Orange Bridge over Boise River (vicinity of Baybrook Court)

·         Continue on Greenbelt past Marden, through Kristen Armstrong Municipal Park

·         Continue on Greenbelt to Julia Davis Park

·         Exit Greenbelt on to Julia Davis Drive to Capitol Boulevard

·         South onto Capitol Boulevard (entering public right of way)

·         Continue south on Capitol through University Drive to Eastover Terrace

·         West on W. Eastover Terrace

·         West onto Crescent Rim Drive

·         North onto N. Latah Street

·         Northeast onto S. Americana

·         East into Ann Morrison Park to the Finish Line
 

The 10K Route will begin at 7:30 a.m. The route is as follows:

 
·         Begin at the intersection of Capitol and Bannock

·         South on Capitol to Main Street

·         East on W. Main to N. 6th Street

·         North on 6th Street to W. Jefferson Street

·         East on Jefferson

The 5K Route will begin at 9:30 a.m. The route is as follows:


·         Begin at the intersection of Capitol Boulevard and Bannock Street

·         South on Capitol to Main Street

·         Continue south on Capitol through University Drive to Eastover Terrace

·         West on W. Eastover Terrace

·         West on Crescent Rim Drive

·         North onto N. Latah Street

·         Northeast onto S. Americana Boulevard

·         East into Ann Morrison Park to the finish line
 

The Freakin’ Fast Marathon will be held this Sunday, September 25th from 7:20 a.m. until noon.  They are anticipating 150 runners for this event.  Rolling closures can be anticipated. The event route is as follows:


·         Begin at Pioneer Lodge up at Bogus Basin Resort

·         South on Bogus Basin Road for 14+ miles

·         Continue south on Bogus Basin crossing Becker Ridge Lane, Paso Fino Drive, Torridon Way, Strathmore Place, and Hackberry Way using the southbound travel lane for the runners

·         Continue south on Bogus Basin Road crossing Curling Drive , Cartwright Road, Ranch Road, Parkhill Drive, and Harrison Hollow lane to Hill Road using the bike and parking lanes for the runners

·         West on Hill Road using the shoulder and bike lane on the north side of the road for the runners

·         Continue West on Hill Road crossing Hill Terrace Lane, Lancaster Drive, 24th Street, 26th Street, 27th Street, 28th Street, Ussery Street, Stone Creek Way and 33rd Street

·         Continue west on Hill Road through the dogbone roundabout at the 36th/Hill/ Catalpa intersection

·         Continue west on Hill Road crossing Bonnie Lane, Bodenheimer Street, Ginzel Street, Kitsap Way, to Collister Drive

·         South on Collister crossing Alderwood to Johns Landing Way using the shoulder for the runners.

·         West and northwest on Johns Landing Way to Yorgason crossing numerous minor side streets.  Runners will use the WB shoulder and travel lane.

North on Yorgason to Elmer

·         West on Elmer crossing Bluegrass and Eugene to Pierce Park

·         North on Pierce Park to Hill Road crossing Castle, Battlement, Foggy Bottom Parapet and Baron to Hill Road.  Runners will remain on the shoulder and bike lane on the east side of the road.

·         West on Hill Road, crossing Lost Sage Lane to Gary Lane.

·         South on Gary Lane, crossing Rygate Drive and Devonwood Drive to the entrance of Riverglen Junior High School

·         West into the Riverglen Junior High School parking lot and event is concluded


Motorists are advised to expect delays, and should plan alternate routes whenever possible. Detour routes will be posted.
