Meridian - Starting tomorrow (October 21), Franklin Road will be closed between Black Cat and Ten Mile roads. The closure will remain in place through October 31, as crews relocate and install utilities under the roadway.
Ten-day closure on Franklin Road between Black Cat to Ten Mile to start tomorrow
Motorists can expect significant delays and should plan an alternate route of travel. Traffic will be detoured around the closure to Cherry Lane via Black Cat and Ten Mile roads. The detour route will be clearly signed.
The utility work is part of the first phase of the Ada County Highway District’s project to improve Franklin Road from Black Cat to Ten Mile. The project includes:
· Widening this section of Franklin Road to five lanes with curb, gutter, detached sidewalk and bicycle lanes.
· Installing a signal at Franklin Road and Black Cat Road, and widening this intersection to include additional thru lanes and turn lanes.
· Constructing vegetated drainage swales on both sides of Franklin Road.
Construction of Franklin Road is expected to be finished in September 2017. During this project, drivers can expect lane restrictions, flagging, reduced speed limits and some delays.
