Garden City – The busy west Ada County crossroad of Cloverdale Road and Executive Drive will reopen to traffic on Tuesday morning, featuring new turn lanes, sidewalks and bike lanes to increase safety and mobility.
Cloverdale Road/Executive Drive to Fully Reopen to Traffic
The intersection is the heart of the $3.7 million construction project to improve Cloverdale from Franklin Road to Fairview Avenue, as well as the Cloverdale/Executive intersection. New travel and turn lanes will make traffic flow more smoothly while the sidewalks and bike lanes will ensure pedestrians and cyclists get around safely, said Rebecca Arnold, who represents central Ada County on the ACHD Commission.
"These improvements serve all users, something ACHD has committed to doing with all of our projects," Arnold said. "Mobility comes in many forms and we try to serve them all appropriately."
The high-traffic intersection has been surfaced in concrete instead of asphalt, which will prevent rutting caused by traffic, particularly the heavy trucks that ply this industrial area. A concrete intersection will also reduce the need for heavy maintenance for several decades, a significant advantage over asphalt, Arnold noted.
The project began in February and is now functionally complete. Finishing work in coming days may require periodic, short-term lane closures.
