Thanksgiving Day marathon and road work to impact local roadways over the weekend

 Boise – The Turkey Day 5K Run, along with other local road work will impact traffic on Ada County roadways starting Thanksgiving Day.

·         The Turkey Day 5K Run will be held on Thursday, November 24 at 9 a.m. In preparation for the event, road closures will start Wednesday, November 23.

o   Capitol Boulevard between Main Street and Idaho Street will be closed Wednesday at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving morning, starting at 6 a.m., the Capitol Boulevard closure will expand to between Front Street and Jefferson Street. Jefferson Street, Bannock Street and Idaho Street, between 6th Street and 8th Street – and – Main Street between 9th Street and 6th Street will also be closed.The rest of the closures associated with the event will be rolling closures along the race course. The race is anticipated to be completed by 11 a.m. Roads will reopen shortly after that. Detour routes will be posted. The race course is as follows:

o   Start on Main Street and 6th Street

o   Southeast on Main Street

o   Turn left onto N. 2nd Street

o   Turn left onto W. Fort Street

o   Turn left onto N. 16th Street

o   Turn right onto W. Jefferson Street

o   Turn left onto 18th Street

o   Turn left onto Bannock Street

o   Turn left onto 11th Street

o   Turn right onto W. Jefferson Street

o   Turn right onto Capitol Boulevard

o   Finish at Capitol Boulevard and Idaho Street

·         Cole Road between Thunderbolt Drive and Bethel Street will have lane restrictions to allow crews to do railroad crossing work from November 28 to December 2.

·         Emerald Street west of Palace Row will have lane restrictions with flagging from November 28 to November 30. Crews will be doing water, sewer, and storm drain work.

·         Gary Lane between Hill Road Parkway and State Street will have lane restrictions with flagging November 24 to November 29 for utility work.

·         Lake Hazel Road between Five Mile Road and Maple Grove Road will be closed November 29 through December 2. No access will be allowed between Five Mile Road and Kelso Way. Crews will be replacing irrigation lateral pipe. Detour signs will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays in these areas and should use caution.
