Meridian- The 16th Annual ACHD Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday at The Club at SpurWing in Meridian raised a record amount to support Camp Rainbow Gold, a non-profit organization that provides support for children battling cancer and their families.
Through the generous donations of individuals and local businesses, ACHD presented Elizabeth Lizberg, Executive Director of Camp Rainbow Gold, with a check for $170,000, more than $10,000 the amount previously raised by the event.
Through commitment to giving back, every year ACHD employees volunteer their personal time to host this annual golf tournament to benefit a local charity that focuses on the community, families and children. The charity is pre-selected by a panel the year before.
KTVB Channel 7's Mark Johnson emceed the event. Nicole Suppelsa and Kinsley Bonfilio of the Boise State Women's Golf Team were auctioned off, as well as professional PGA golfer Tyler Aldridge, PGA player and Boise State alumnus Ty Travis, former Boise State golf coach Kevin Burton, ACHD Commission President Paul Woods, and Johnson. Two families who have attended Camp Rainbow Gold were present at the first hole to encourage the teams. Thirty-six teams competed.
The tournament consisted of 18 holes of golf, an optional putting contest, lunch, the awards ceremony, and presentation of the check to Camp Rainbow Gold.
