ACHD to install permanent radar speed signs throughout the county

Ada County -- The Ada County Highway District will install as many as 50 permanent radar speed signs on various roadways throughout the county starting the week of May 29th. The signs will show motorists what the posted speed limit is, as well as displaying the speed at which approaching motorists are actually traveling.

The units give at-the-moment feedback to drivers but will not result in any tickets or warning citations.

The roadways which were chosen to host these devices are all roadways on which speed studies have been done, and the results of those studies indicated that motorists driving these particular roads might benefit from the reminder the devices provide.

While the solar-powered devices do not collect data, ACHD will perform follow-up traffic studies to determine how well the devices are working to reduce speeds.
