Chinden Boulevard (US 20/26) and Ten Mile Road Intersection

General Description:

Ten Mile Road and Chinden Boulevard intersection reconstruction
to start in February

Improvements are coming to Ten Mile Road and Chinden Boulevard beginning as early as mid-February.  As part of a developer's cooperative agreement between the Ada County Highway District (ACHD) and Walmart,  Ten Mile Road will be widened south of Chinden Boulevard (US 20, 26) for approximately 800 feet and Chinden Boulevard (US 20,26) will be widened at the intersection for approximately 1,650 feet.  The project is anticipated to be completed in September 2014. The improvements include:

  • Widening Chinden Boulevard (US 20,26) to provide an eastbound right-turn lane, eastbound left-turn lane, and westbound left-turn lane.
  • Widening Ten Mile Road to provide two travel lanes in the northbound and southbound directions and a striped center median.
  • A new traffic signal, pavement striping and signing.
  • Storm drainage enhancements and irrigation improvements.

Construction Impacts
During construction, a minimum of one paved travel lane in each direction will be maintained throughout the duration of the project, except for temporary closures to accommodate trenching across the roadway.
Work will occur during the day between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and also at night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. During construction there may be some temporary lane restrictions, general construction noise, dust, equipment safety backup alarms and ground vibration.
