Ada County Highway District

SH 69 (Meridian Rd.) and Columbia Rd.

General Description:

  • Signalize intersection
  • Add right turn lanes to SH 69
  • Add right turn lane to westbound Columbia Rd.
  • Lengthen left turn lanes on both sides of Columbia Rd.

The Ada County Highway District (ACHD) is pleased to announce that crews will begin widening and signalizing the intersection at State Highway 69 and Columbia Road beginning June 29th. Construction is scheduled for completion the last week of August 2009.

Construction Impacts
During most of the project, construction work will be done during the day (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). However, there will be some work done at night, for instance when the mast arms (poles that hold the traffic signals) are installed.

Anticipated Road and Lane Closures

Columbia Road

  • Only one leg of Columbia Rd. will be closed at a time and the leg that remains open will have one travel lane in each direction open to traffic.

State Highway 69

  • State Highway 69 will have sporadic lane restrictions, but three lanes of traffic will remain open at all times between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. After 4 p.m. all lanes on State Highway 69 will be open to traffic.

Construction to be delayed by one week

Construction on the State Highway 69/Columbia intersection will be delayed by one week.  It was originally scheduled to begin June 29, but will now begin July 6.  The reason for the delay is that it gives everyone an extra week to coordinate the work, plus it eliminates the need to put a closure in place on Columbia prior to the holiday weekend.

West leg of intersection closed

Starting today the west leg of Columbia Road will be closed and the closure will remain in effect through July.  Drivers are asked to use Hubbard Road as an alternative route.
