Construction work to begin on Creason and Coleman Laterals
As part of the Ustick Road and Linder Road Intersection Project, work on the Creason and Coleman Laterals is expected to begin the week of January 12, 2009. The lateral work is being completed during the non-irrigation season when minimal water is in the laterals.
The laterals are irrigation channels that deliver water to downstream users, generally between March 15th and October 15th.
The Creason Lateral will be relocated to make room for the new intersection; the Coleman Lateral will be replaced and extended to accommodate an asphalt pathway at the school.
After constructing the lateral crossings this winter, intersection construction will begin early summer 2009 and every effort will be made to have construction completed by the time school starts in the fall. Utility relocations are expected to occur in the spring or early summer 2009.
Between completion of the lateral work and beginning of the intersection reconstruction, temporary asphalt will be put down. Permanent asphalt will be applied when the intersection reconstruction is completed.
Construction Details - Lateral Work Only
Construction on the laterals will be limited to daytime hours between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. No night work is anticipated. Motorists can expect lane restrictions, with flaggers, as well as short term road closures required to complete the lateral work (please note that when the intersection reconstruction begins, there will be longer delays). The contractor, Brown Construction, will post notices of closures a week in advance.
