Ada County Highway District

2018 Downtown Boise Implementation Plan

Construction update as of 10/12/18:  This project is considered substantially complete as of October 8, 2018!

General Description:
The Ada County Highway District will begin work this spring to reconstruct several roadway segments in downtown Boise as part of the Downtown Boise Implementation Plan, a plan to bring transportation improvements to the downtown core.  This plan includes replacing and upgrading pedestrian ramps, patching soft spots, and milling and overlay work.   The following roadway segments will be effected:

    • 2nd Street between Myrtle Street and Front Street
    • 4th Street between Grove Street and State Street
    • Avenue A between Myrtle Street and Front Street
    • Front Street between 16th Street and 13th Street
    • River Street between 9th Street and Capitol Boulevard
    • 4th Street south of Myrtle Street/Broad Street
    • 8th Street between Myrtle Street and Broad Street
    • Broad Street between 9th Street and 8th Street

Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times. Lane closures, parking restrictions, intersection closures, and possibly full road closures will be necessary for the construction of this project.  Work hours that require lane closures during the day will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.;  Work will be permitted to begin earlier as long as it does not impact traffic.  Nighttime work, if needed, will be between 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.   Road and intersection closures will be limited, when possible, to weekends and any closures will have seven (7) days advance notice.
