Ada County Highway District

Hill Road Extension

General Description:

The Hill Road Extension proposes a three lane roadway between Dicky Drive and East Hill Road and widening the existing section of Hill Road between Dicky Drive and State Highway 55 to three lanes. The project was identified in the Hill Road Corridor study in the early 1990s which determined the function and alignment of Hill Road.

The project will improve access between State Highway 55 and State Street in the City of Eagle.

The project also includes:

  • Curb, gutter, sidewalk* and bike lanes on both road sections
  • Creating dead ends on two sections of N. Edgewood Ln. with cul-de-sacs
  • Building bridges on N. Edgewood Ln. and Hill Rd. over the Dry Creek Canal
  • Constructing five landscaped medians along the roadway*
  • A posted speed limit of 35 mph

*Roadway medians and landscape buffers between the sidewalk and road will receive an interim landscape treatment. The City of Eagle will install permanent landscaping within five years once construction is complete.

Anticipated Traffic Impacts

At this time we anticipate the following major traffic impacts during the project:

  • January 2015:  Hill Road from Edgewood to State Highway 55 will be closed to through traffic.  Limited access will be maintained to allow local access to residences on Hill Road.
  • March 2015: Edgewood from Hill Road to (Old) State Street will be closed while crews remove the existing bridge near the intersection of Edgewood and Hill Road.
  • May 2015:  The newly constructed Hill Road will be opened to local traffic.  Construction of the intersections at Edgewood and Hill Road, Dicky Lane, and various other locations will begin at this time.
  • July 2015:  Project completion.
