2018 Green Stormwater Implementation

General Description:

Construction Update as of 9/27/18: The contractor is working on the alley between 8th and 9th. That alley should be complete in early September.  The alley between 4th and 5th will be done around middle of October due to utility delays.

The purpose of this project is to retrofit two separate alley locations in Boise with permeable pavers, a green stormwater infrastructure that enhances how stormwater is managed and treated.

The alley locations are:

  • Alley between 8th and 9th, Fulton and Myrtle: Expected to complete in early September
  • Alley between 4th and 5th, Main and Idaho: Expected to complete in middle of October

Permeable pavers help eliminate standing water, and clean the rain and snow melt. The system is composed of concrete or fired clay brick pavers that are separated by gravel. These pavers are friendly for walkers while also providing a sustainable filtration system. Previously, permeable pavers were installed in three downtown Boise alleys as part of a successful pilot project in 2014 and 2015.
