Poplar Street, Cole Road to Raymond Street

Construction Update as of 5/10/19:

Poplar Street is open! Work remaining includes landscaping and other minor items.

Tree removals are complete.The majority of the utility relocations are complete. Irrigation work is complete. Crews are now working on placing curb, gutter and sidewalk. The majority of the concrete work is complete. Preparation for paving will begin this week.

There was a preconstruction conference on January 24th.

General Description:

This winter crews will be completing the curb, gutter and sidewalk on the north side of Poplar to improve connectivity and safety for children walking to local schools. Work is expected to begin late January/early February and be complete in May.

Neighborhood Impacts

• Poplar will be closed to through traffic. However, access to homes and businesses will be maintained.
• Driveway closures (contractor will coordinate with impacted residents).
• Equipment back up alarms & ground vibration.
• General construction noise & dust.
• Work is expected to occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Proposed Improvements

• Complete curb, gutter and sidewalk on north side of Poplar Street to match existing.
• Retain existing sidewalk.
• Update pedestrian ramps to current standards.
• Storm drainage improvements.

Project Purpose

• Improve connectivity and safety for children walking to local schools.
