The Ada County Highway District Commission has approved the Fiscal Year 2023 budget.
The Commission unanimously approved the $181.6 million budget after Wednesday night,s public hearing.
Commissioners approved a $46.3 million Property Tax Certification, which includes an increase of $1.2 million on new construction value, also by unanimous vote.
"The incredible work from our staff throughout the year has helped streamline the process for approving this year's budget," said ACHD Commission President Mary May. "Thanks to a very dedicated team and their meticulous work, we have set a budget that puts each tax dollar to work for the residents of Ada County."
The Commission elected not to take any of the three percent allowable increase to the Property Tax Certification. The Commission passed a resolution to move the funds into the foregone balance.
"As inflation continues to impact all residents of Ada County, the decision to not take the three percent allowable increase to the Property Tax Certification will help ease the financial burden that can come with increased taxes," said President May.
ACHD runs on a fiscal year that begins in October. The 2023 budget includes projects to increase safety and mobility, and also provides for the maintenance and operation of Ada County's roads, sidewalks, traffic signals, bike lanes and related infrastructure.
This year's budget includes $14 million in pedestrian improvements and bikeways, as well as an $80 million capital program with more than 100 projects.
