Liberty Street Bicycle and Pedestrian Project

 

The Ada County Highway District is designing pedestrian and bicyclist facilities for Liberty Street between Denton Street and Franklin Road. The purpose of this project is to improve safety and increase connectivity for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Project Description  

  • Construct curb, gutter, and a multi-use pathway on the east side of Liberty Street from Denton Street to Franklin Road.
  • Add sidewalk to the west side of Liberty Street from Denton Street to Franklin Road.
  • On-street parking will remain on the west side.
  • Add new pedestrian ramps and bikeway signage where necessary.
  • The enhanced pedestrian crossing on Franklin Road at Liberty Street will remain and align with the future pathway on Liberty Street.
  • Replace the existing bridge over the Ridenbaugh Canal.

Multi-use Pathway   

  • Multi-use pathways are two-way facilities meant to accommodate both pedestrians and bicyclists of a wide range of ages and abilities.
  • They provide more space between motorists and those walking and biking, increasing safety.
  • Multi-use pathways are used on roads with higher speeds and traffic volumes.
