Southwest Boise Transportation Study - Eagle - Cloverdale Alignment

On Wednesday, May 27^th, 2009, ACHD Commissioners voted to adopt the Southwest Boise Transportation Study recommendations.The Final Report can be found under "Related Documents" on the right hand side of this page. Please note that due to the size of the document it has been divided by sections (1-11).

Study Description:

The Southwest Boise Transportation Study is a regional study that will identify future roadway, intersection and corridor needs. The result will help ACHD plan for and accommodate future traffic demand in the Southwest Boise area. The study also includes identifying a new Eagle Road/Cloverdale Road alignment to create a continuous north-south connection between Kuna-Mora Road and Interstate 84.

Study Purpose:

• Identify improvements & needs
• Identify potential collector roadway connections
• Refine planned future roadway, intersection, pedestrian and bicycle improvements in ACHD’s current Capital Improvement Plan (CIP)
• Prioritize needs

Eagle-Cloverdale Alignment

• Refine the initial recommendation in the Communities in Motion Plan
• Conduct study and identify basic alignment for corridor preservation

Corridor Preservation:

Preserving roadway corridors as development occurs saves tax dollars by reducing the need to buy right-of-way (land) after development has occurred. The study will also identify needed improvements before the demand increases. The goal? When surrounding development creates the need for more roadways, the right-of-way and concept for the road will be in place, thereby speeding construction of the facility.
