ACHD's sign placement policy seeks to maintain safety and visibility for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Where can a sign be placed?
Signs must be placed outside of the vision triangle, 40 feet back from the point in the intersection where the curb lines or the edge of pavement on roads without curbs would meet near the center of the intersection.
Where shouldn't signs be placed?
On infrastructure: Signs may not be placed on or attached to signal poles, traffic signs, or on any other piece of public road infrastructure.
In medians and landscaping areas: Signs may not be placed in roadway landscaping areas, including in medians, in roundabouts, or within the landscaped areas between the curb and sidewalk.
What happens if my sign is placed in a location that violates ACHD's sign ordinance?
Improperly placed signs will be removed under ACHD's authority to prevent hazards. Owners may be charged for any costs.
How soon after Election Day do I need to remove my political signs?
Signs must be removed from the public right-of-way within 48 hours after the election.
What does ACHD do with the removed signs?
ACHD holds removed signs at 3775 Adams Street, Garden City.
Where can I pick up my sign?
Signs can be collected Monday through Friday, 8am to 4:30pm at 3775 Adams Street, Garden City.

ACHD Policy 5104.3.5
Non-regulatory signs, temporary signs, and nuisance signs or lighting
All non-regulatory signs, such as neighborhood watch signs, temporary signs such as but not limited to real estate, open house, garage sale, and political campaign signs and nuisance signs such as but not limited to miscellaneous services and lost animals (collectively hereafter referred to as signs) shall be placed according to the current District standards set for in section 5104.3.5.
Ada County and the cities within Ada County may have sign ordinances that are more restrictive than ACHD Section 5104.3.5. If so, the more restrictive standard shall apply. It is the responsibility of those placing signs in the public right of way to be aware of those regulations.
