Ada County residents will be seeing more improvements to Ada County roadways, thanks to new transportation funding approved by the Idaho Legislature and signed by Governor Brad Little.
Governor Little signed a part of his Leading Idaho Plan Thursday morning, which includes more than $200 million for roadway and infrastructure improvements in the state of Idaho.
About $36.5 million is expected to go to the Ada County Highway District.
Ada County Highway District Commission President Mary May, Commissioner Kent Goldthorpe, and Commissioner Dave McKinney joined several ACHD staff members in attending the governor's bill-signing ceremony Thursday morning, where the governor recognized the strong partnership between the state and local agencies including the Ada County Highway District.
"We appreciate the continued support of both the governor and legislature for transportation infrastructure funding throughout Idaho," said Ada County Highway District Commission President Mary May. "As Ada County's population continues to grow, so do the county's transportation needs. This key part of Governor Little's Leading Idaho Plan addresses those needs without burdening citizens with additional taxes."
The Ada County Highway District will work closely with the Idaho Transportation Department to determine how the funding will be used by ACHD.
"We look forward to continuing our partnership with the Idaho Transportation Department to ensure safe roadways and infrastructure for the many ways people travel in Ada County," President May added.
